Yin Yoga derives from the ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Taoist philosophy that believes the qi (chi – vital energy) flows in the body through meridians (channels). Practicing Yin Yoga allows you to unlock these energy channels and the vital energy to flow to restore the body and the mind.
Yin Yoga is practiced on complete surrender, holding the poses effortlessly for a long period of time. A longer and still pose provides stress on the deep connective tissues (fascia, bones, ligaments, tendons, joints) and this is when the healing starts happening for you.
Yin Yoga is slow, deep, and an inwards practice. Being such a meditative practice, it helps the mind and the body to relax and release stress. With the continuous practice of Yin Yoga, your body will feel less tense, far more flexible and you may find some old body pain finally gone.
